Copenhagen is a famous ancient city in Denmark which located at east of Zealand and faces the important harbor of SwedenˇXMalmo. It is the center of politics, economics and cultures in Denmark. Also it is the biggest city in north Europe. Although Copenhagen is situated at higher latitude, the warm current makes the climate mild; the average temperature is 0 degree in winter and 16 degree in summer time. The population in Copenhagen is almost half million people which means it is a small but important city. The official language is Danish but English is also useful in Denmark. The main industries such as foods, ship manufactures, mechanical engineering and electronics all gather up here. Because of its important geographical place, it is considered as main hub of train and airline transportations between western and north Europe. The first impression of Copenhagen is often the famous statue, Little Mermaid, near the harbor. A beer businessman gave it as a present to Copenhagen and it has become the most popular tourist spot that you wonˇ¦t miss. Near the statue is a beautiful park with widespread grasslands. Once step into this park, there is one amazing fountain sitting in the center of the square. ˇ§Gefion Springvandetˇ¨ was built in 1908, being considered as the symbol of Copenhagen until 1913 ˇ§Little Mermaidˇ¨ took place of it. However, this fountain is still well known to tourists. People say Gefion is a female celestial in Denmark fairy tale. She cut apart the land of Sweden and created Zealand for Demark. The four cattle Gefion enslaved in the statue are her sons because she wanted to acquire as large scale land as possible from Swedish king. Until now when tourists visit this fantastic fountain, they still can feel solemn atmosphere. Only ten to twenty minutes walk you can reach ˇ§Amalienborg Slotˇ¨ˇXit is the place where present Denmark queen lives. It is composed of four palaces surrounded by octangle marble square. FrederikV statue is situated in the center of the square. Here you can find royal sentries guarding each palace, especially the handing-over ceremony at twelve oˇ¦clock every afternoon. Tourists can enjoy the ceremony personally and have special experiences. Although walking on the streets in Copenhagen is enjoyable -- admiring this tiny city for its incredible old style architectures and special modern buildings. However, cycling through whole city is another good choice. When you walk down the city areas, it is easy to find a bunch of colorful bicycles locked in racks on sidewalks. Just insert 20 Dkr and then you can rent a city bike. It is an economical way to travel within Copenhagen because when you are tired of cycling, you can always find another rack and return the bike; at the same time you also get your 20 Dkr back. Therefore cycling is a really popular way to traffic within Denmark. Just across the central station is a famous amusement park ˇ§Tivoli Gardenˇ¨. It is well known because of its beautiful flowers and plants. Besides, there is also a ˇ§Chinese departmentˇ¨ inside the park. You can find traditional Chinese architectures, such as pagoda and stage. Furthermore, delicious Chinese foods are also served to visitors. When you walk through different adventure routes, pictures of famous Andersen tales could be explored along the roads. Even in the night Tivoli is still amazingly attractive because of colorful lighting or fireworks. However, it opens only during April to September, so the visitors had better go there in the right season! If you have seen the romantic movie about Denmark prince falls in love with one ordinary American girl, you wonˇ¦t forget the treasures that Denmark loyal family have. All these precious treasures are stored in ˇ§Rosenborg Slotˇ¨, including crowns and jewelries. The backyard of Rosenborg Slot isˇ¨ Kongens Have ˇ§which is originally a royal park but becomes a general park since royal family declined. Nowadays it is one of the most fascinating parks in Copenhagen. After visiting all the tourist spots mentioned above, there is still one area you should never miss if you go to Copenhagen ˇX Nyhavn. It was rose and developed because of canals. It used to be an important hub to lead sea route into central Copenhagen, causing economics prosperous. The traditional buildings here were very famous because many celebrities used to stay, including the writer Andersen and well-known Swedish singer Jenny Lind. However, after 400 years Nyhavn has become a place gathering many special outdoor restaurants and street artists. Therefore when you go to Copenhagen, donˇ¦t forget to have a Danish meal there and enjoy the canal scenery. Although Copenhagen is a small city, it has rich cultures waiting for you to discover and admire. It is a city suitable for both short visit and deep tourist.
