2010/10/04 - Moon Festival: October 4st 18:00
Moon Festival can also be called Mid-Autumn Festival or Zhongqiu Jie (Chinese), it's a very important event for Chinese people getting together to chat under the full moon and to eat something together. You can also look it up in the wikipedia here, Mid-Autumn_Festival.
On that day, we will teach you how to make the delicious "Moon Cakes", telling stories of this holiday, and playing some interesting little games in the NCTU Eruope office. Some drinks and moon cakes are aslo provided.

Here are a variety of interesting games waiting for you!
Mahjong, Karaoke, Ping-Pong, Dice Tossing, Poker games, and more.
These are some traditional things we usually do for recreation. The rules might be similar but different from what you know. But don't worry, we will teach you how to play. Furthermore, those who win most can get some free gifts. Don't miss this event!

2010/02/03 - Chinese New Year activity: February 9th 17:30
Gong Xi Fa Cai!(We wish you prosperity and wealth!) Christmas and new year just passed, but another Chinese New Year is coming! This festival means new hope and new beginning, and we would like to share the joy with you. On this day, we will make Tong Yuan (stuffed rice dumplings with sweet soup), and have some traditional Chinese food. We'll also tell you some stories about this event.

2009/11/21 - Midwinter Celebration: December 4th 17:30
In contrast to midsummer, midwinter is a day for Chinese to get together eating
stuffed dumplings made of glutinous rice flour served in soup. It's a common dessert in Taiwan and it's sweet! We'll also show you how to make them by yourself. Don't miss it!

Chinese New Year is undoubtedly the most important festival in Taiwan! People enjoy getting reunion with family and preparing special cuisine. In addition, there are various traditional events and rituals. We will give you a brief but interesting introduction of Chinese New Year! After the introduction, there will be a small quiz. If you hit the answer, you will receive a “red envelope” with some secret prize inside. Besides, you can learn how to make a real Chinese dumpling and taste some traditional food. So, don’t be hesitated and just come to join us. You will definitely get a special experience of Chinese New Year!

The date of NCTU Europe 5th Anniversary is decided: Sep. 15th - Sep. 17th
The celebration of NCTU Europe 5th Anniversary(Anniversary in 2007) will start on Sep. 15th. There will be totally three days activities.The first day is opening ceremony. We will invite the administrators from Chalmers and NCTU to join us. We will also tell you the information about exchange student in NCTU. Free lunch is offered. On the second day, we will introduce you to our Mid-Autumn Festival and teach you how to make a moon cake. The third day will be movie night. We will play a movie with English subtitle. It is a five week intensive course which will teach you basic Mandarin as well as give you a feel of Chinese Culture.

Welcome to NCTU to learn Mandarin during summer! Here is the information about the 2007 Summer Mandarin Courses in NCTU,
with the application form. The course is for 6 weeks starting in July 2007, and the deadline to apply is in June 2007.
It is suitable for beginners, provides instruction in Chinese pronunciation, Chinese characters, speech and communication skills.

The Chinese New Year is around the corner, and we would like to wish you all a happy Chinese New Year!
Although we had our opening of our office postponed, but we'd like to invite you to join us with a little celebration of the Chinese New Year and the moving of our office.
We will offer light meal and a special gift for everyone who come. Please come and join us and have fun!

2007/01/23 - NCTU Europe new office reopening postponed
We originally planned a new opening for the new office in the end of January,
but we recently got a message from NCTU asking us to postpone the reopening
so that the new president of NCTU can come and host the reopening. Therefore
the original plan will be postponed and the reopening will take place around
the end of March or beginning of April. We are sorry for this, and we will
put the information on the website when the date is decided. Everyone is
welcomed to join the party at that time!

Move of office location in Chalmers
NCTU Europe has recently moved to a new location in Chalmers. The new location is in the ground floor of the Physics Building, near the Mathematics Building. You cen enter from the door near the Mathematics Building, just walk by and you should be able to see some flags of Taiwan of NCTU on the windows. Our office will be closed for the Christmas holidays and will start opening again in January 22, 2007. We will hold a new opening of the office in the end of January, and please come and join us at that time!

Important news for application for Chinese Courses in NCTU
We have recently been notified by Chalmers that if one is interested in the Chinese Courses, no matter if it is Chinese courses followed by one-year of exchange student program or just Chinese courses in summer vacation, one have to give the personal information (Name, Personal Number, Department, Phone Number, Email) to Dr. Jorgen Sjoberg who is in charge with office in the Administration Building. Please do it ASAP!
